Burqin to Arraba

This stage extends from the Church of Burqin until the old streets of the village of Arraba. This church which is called St. George church belongs to the Greek Orthodox community; it was built by Queen Helen and is one of the oldest churches of its kind in Palestine that traces back to sometime in the 300s AC in the Byzantine Era. The scent of the old building stones of the church fills your whole being with its holy sacred fragrance as you get inside. This church is the place where Jesus Christ had stopped in his path from Samaria and Galilee in order to heal the ten men who suffered leprosy.

The path is mostly paved and step by step you start to enter the fields of the village and the winding roads to head towards the village of Arraba. As you move forward, you start witnessing the beautiful old antiquities from the ottoman era, the irresistible views of mountains and hills, and the amazing plains and valleys from all around you, making it hard for anyone to resist taking pictures and having the chance to run and breathe the fresh air of the villages.

Burqin is an agricultural town that depends mainly on olive growing and olive oil as a living, and it has three modern olive presses. They also grow vegetables in plastic houses such as beans, tomatoes, and cucumber. The rural path of Burqin has a lot of cactus plants and olive trees which gives the area a special splendor. It also has stones and plastic factories and a vegetable packaging factory.

The most prominent view in this path is the view of the Tobacco Plants. Jenin is full of this plant and one can walk miles watching fields full of Tobacco that some of it is newly grown and other is dry and need harvesting. One of the main reasons behind implanting this plant is that it does not require a lot of water.

You then pass from a small village called Alhashmeyya, which is located to the west of Jenin, and that has a big beautiful mountain called Alhashmeyya Mountain. After that you will visit the old town of Arraba, which traces back to the ottoman period.
